It’s Launch Day!!!
I did it! I am bursting with excitement inside that I have a place to share my projects and able to be part of the crafting community. Let me be honest with you, this has been something I have wanted to do for quite some time. My love of paper crafting began about 13 years ago and my life has never been the same. I have met an amazing community of crafters and have been able to grow, share, and laugh with them all. So here I am!
A little bit about about why I am here, talking into cyberspace…
I am a wife, a mom and have a full-time career. To some, my job may seem glamorous as I leave on travel now and again, but to me it doesn’t have the sparkle and shine I get when I’m in the zone in my craft room. My hobby and passion is crafting. It is my happy place where I don’t have to create spreadsheets, I get to use all the colors of a rainbow and I can put a smile on someone’s face. I believe everyone deserves an outlet that pulls them out of reality and stressors in their lives. This is my outlet. If I can inspire, provide motivation, or simply give someone something to look forward to, then I would consider this a success. I am paying it forward for all of the talented bloggers, YouTubers, and Instagram account holders that I have followed over the years.
So now to the good stuff! Today, I am going to share a card that I recently made on a retreat with one of my favorite crafty friends. The card below is using the Mama Elephant stamp set The Dogs Woof. I was so excited for this stamp set as I am a huge dog lover (I have 3 pups at home). It was simple and easy to mass produce if you have a lot of cards to make. I made this one as a sample for my daughter to replicate for her “Thank You” notes from her birthday.
As many of us do, I changed my mind on the overall design a couple of times while making this card. After coloring in the image, I decided that I wanted to have the Falling Stars background to appear behind the dogs, therefore, I had to create a mask for image. Creating a mask for this stamp set is easy with the use of the coordinating die set!
I decided to just add shadows with my cool gray Copic markers and then pop up a handful of the dog images. I stamped the image again on a separate piece of Neenah White cardstock (80 lb) and colored in some of the images. After fussy cutting, I used foam tape to pop-up form the flat image. I colored in the images using Copic markers and added black Nuvo jewel drops for the eyes and noses.
The Falling Stars background stamp by Simon Says Stamp was heat embossed using Hero Arts gold embossing powder. To finish off the card, I die cut the Sugar Pea Design’s “Thanks” sentiment 3 times. The two bottom layers are in black and the top layer in white. I thought this was add a nice shadow and pop off of the white background.
I am looking forward to watching my daughter interpret this card into her own design. Both of my girls love to see my finished products and are in awe of the endless possibilities that can be created by using stamps and dies. I plan to do a future post showing all of my kids creations, using my card designs as inspiration.
